FAQs

How much shoreline has Rolling Rome maintained?

Over the course of our first season, Rolling Rome restored nearly 1.9 million square feet of shoreline—that’s the equivalent of over 13 Major League Baseball fields, 30 football fields, or almost six times the size of the channel between the Camelot Lakes!

How much shoreline does each property owner get cleared?

With most shorelines being, on average, ~75 feet, each waterfront homeowner receives over  1,800 square feet of shoreline cleared weekly. That’s about the same as having three full-sized backyard inground pools serviced! Imagine the upkeep of three pools every week—now apply that to your shoreline!

That’s an interesting point. To maintain a beautiful, waterfront property, owners share similar demands on their time and money as pool owners. What are some costs associated with maintaining an average-sized pool in Wisconsin?

Maintaining a pool in Wisconsin averages around $150 to $300 per month. That includes $40 to $125 for chemicals and $30 to $100 for electricity. If you hire a cleaner, add another $80 to $150. Plus, opening and closing the pool for the season can cost $300 to $500 each time. Over the course of a year, you’re looking at a total of $1,500 to $3,600. Now imagine handling that for three pools—that’s a lot like keeping your shoreline in pristine condition! What if my total length of shoreline and dock is under 100? Can I receive a discount?

Good news and bad news. The bad news is that for the summer packages, I'm sorry, no. However, for initial cleans, the answer may be yes. When the evaluation is completed, if there is a legitimate reason, Rolling Rome will and has the quick ability to issue a partial refund. The average occurrence of this was ~2% last season.

Why is shoreline maintenance vital to the Tri-Lakes?

Shoreline maintenance is crucial in the Tri-Lakes because invasive weeds like Eurasian Water Milfoil and Curlyleaf Pondweed can take over in just weeks. Without regular servicing, these weeds grow back fast, clogging up the shoreline and making it tough to enjoy the lake. It’s a lot like mowing your lawn—if you let it go, it’ll quickly become unmanageable. Consistent maintenance is the only way to keep the shoreline clear and enjoyable for everyone.

I own a roller but it’s not a Beachroller. Do I have to pay the equipment fee?

Yes. We tried several roller and other weed control products during Rolling Rome’s inaugural season. Since no product shares the Beachroller’s ability to address muck and silt to condition the sand, it is the exclusive roller for our services.

What about the blue green algae that shows up every summer? Does Rolling Rome offer a service for that?

No.

Wait, seriously? All these long answers, and this time “no”??

Ok, fine. Guilty as charged. Yes, I am researching the issue. More to follow… ;)
